Cell Phone Love-inIf you haven’t been people watching lately, then you really should start today. It can tell you more about your potential customers than you could ever have imagined. And it can do a pretty good job of giving you clues as to how to reach those potential customers.

I walked into a restaurant and saw four friends “hanging out” at one of the tables. They had coffees or iced teas on the table with a couple of things to nosh on. The most interesting thing that I noticed is that rather than being immersed in intense conversations with each other, they were each intently concentrating on their phones. Yes, it was a cell phone love fest! And not for just a few minutes, but virtually the whole time I was there. The eye-opening thing is that as I scanned the room, theirs wasn’t the only table where people seemed to be mesmerized by their cell phones. Many tables were filled with isolated cell phone users. And as I continued to watch, it wasn’t just in the restaurant, but at the malls, at the ball games, walking down the street, and even driving. We are a nation of obsessed cell phone users.

What does that mean to you as a business owner? Well, hundreds of business analysts looking at multiple demographic studies have projected that searches by mobile devices are about to surpass searches by desk top or laptop computers. We love our mobile devices and what’s more, we’re using them. Tons of Facebook posts, blog comments, Foursquare check-ins, and especially online searches that lead to an immediate purchase, are done on mobile devices. The stats are irrefutable.

Cell PhonesIf you are not optimized for mobile traffic, you are not in the game to get as much business as is available out there. How do you do that? You build a mobile version of your website. You take advantage of QR code technology to drive mobile users to your offers. You implement a text messaging campaign to reach out to customers where they really live (hint: it’s not on e-mail anymore.) And best of all, you build a mobile app so that essentially, your mobile presence is always on your customer’s phone.

You see, we’ve all always known that the best way to get new business was through personal referrals and testimonials. Social proof is big! And mobile apps that are linked to customer’s social media accounts, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and that give incentives for social sharing, deliver floods of shares out to social media, including social bookmarking sites.

Bottom line is that if you don’t have a mobile presence, call Redhawk Productions Marketing and get one, fast!!
